For one RedArt owner in the Bay Area, it was about doing something no one else was doing.
When I started, nobody was doing engraving here. Nobody had a CNC machine in the Bay Area. One day, someone from the City of San Jose asked if I could do an engraving project. I said yes — even though I didn’t have the machine yet.
After researching the market, he realized there were no local engraving services available — competing companies quoted him $9,000 to $15,000 for the job. That’s when he reached out to Henry Ashworth, founder of RedArt Technologies. Within days, he traveled to a live demonstration in Las Vegas.
I called my wife and said, ‘I’m going to Las Vegas.’ I saw the machine in person, watched it work, and I said right then — I want to buy it.
That moment marked the beginning of a new opportunity: bringing portable engraving to an entire region for the first time.
